If you have male genital herpes you likely know of it because of a herpes outbreak. This type of outbreak is one the many symptoms of herpes . It is likely to happen about a month or so after you have contracted the virus from someone else. Individuals will know this because of the herpes sores that show on the skin. During most herpes outbreaks , the skin is red and inflamed. It then exhibits signs of bumps that lead to blisters on the skin. Later, the blisters will break open and obvious, open sores are seen. These sores are painful and can lead to serious infection if you are not careful. After the sores and the virus has run its course, or treatments work for it, the sores will scab over and heal. The virus then enters its remission stages where there are not symptoms of herpes present.

The herpes outbreaks happen in the genital region of the body. For men, this means male herpes will appear on the male genitalia including the penis, scrotum and the surrounding area including the anal region. Other symptoms of a herpes outbreak is pain in the area, fever, chills, muscle aches and fatigue, all associated with an infection type illness.

Treatment for male herpes usually consists first of a check up with your doctor. The doctor will usually only need a visual inspection to determine if you have an outbreak and how to treat it. Once diagnosised he will likely prescribe medication for you. Herpes medication is very helpful in allowing you to overcome the intensity of the outbreaks. What’s more, it can help to reduce the number of outbreaks that you have. With fewer outbreaks occurring, you are less likely to pass the disease on to someone else. These herpes symptoms should mean that you do not engage in any sexual activity including vagina sex, anal or oral sex. Contact with the outbreak will cause the disease to be spread to the other person.

Male genital herpes is usually caused by the herpes simplex virus type called HSV 2, or herpes simplex virus 2 . The other type of herpes is herpes simplex virus 1 , or HSV 1, which is oral herpes . HSV 1 can cause genital herpes but this is rarer. In most cases, if you have genital herpes you have the HSV 2 virus. The virus is spread through intimate contact of any type to the infected area. This does not mean that you shouldn’t have sexual intercourse but instead that you should take precautions such as using a latex condom and avoiding intercourse during an outbreak.

Herpes symptoms are often times painful, but they should be talked about with your sexual partners. You can even spread herpes when you do not have a herpes outbreak, making it even more important to know that you have it and how to treat it. Male herpes can not be cured, but through effective treatment methods and with your doctor’s help, you can limit the damage that is causes to your daily life. Most importantly, you can help protect those that you are sexually involved with.
